On October 1, 2017, the Center for Integrated Research in Fundamental Science and Engineering (CiRfSE) and the Tsukuba Research Center for Interdsciplinary Materials Science (TIMS) were reorganized to establish two new centers -- the Tomonaga Center for the History of the Universe (TCHoU) and the Tsukuba Research Center for Energy Materials Science (TREMS) -- and the Research Core for Mathematical Scoiences. Please see "What's New" for details. We continue and extend our research activities in the new centers and the core. About CiRfSECenter for Integrated Research in Fundamental Science and Engineering (CiRfSE) has been founded in 2014 at the Faculty of Pure and Applied Sciences, University of Tsukuba to help establish new research fields in the natural sciences by developing an integrated view of the fundamental principles of matter through application of mathematical analyses. The CiRfSE consists of two research hubs:

On October 1, 2017, the Center for Integrated Research in Fundamental Science and Engineering (CiRfSE) and the Tsukuba Research Center for Interdsciplinary Materials Science (TIMS) are reorganized to establish two new centers -- the Tomonaga Center for the History of the Universe (TCHoU) and the Tsukuba Research Center for Energy Materials Science (TREMS) --, as shown in the plot. This is to accelerate foundation of international research hubs by making clearer their research missions in each field.
Tomonaga Center for the History of the Universe (TCHoU) is based on the Research Core for the History of the Universe and the Laboratory for Development of Photon and Particle Detectors of CiRfSE, and, under close collaboration with the Center for Computational Sciences (CCS) of the Univ. of Tsukuba, push forward the project to construct the international core for research excange towards clarification of the History of the Universe.
Tsukuba Research Center for Energy Materials Science (TREMS) is based on the Research Core for Developing Energy and Environment-friendly Materials of CiRfSE, the Tsukuba Research Center for Interdsciplinary Materials Science (TIMS), and the Power Electronics special laboratory of the Faculty of Pure and Applied Sciences.
We also establish Research Core for Mathematical Scoiences based on the Laboratory for Mathematical Sciences of CiRfSE and Office of Integrated Research, both at the Faculty of Pure and Applied Sciences, to connect the new Centers and research activities in and around the University.
We thank stimulating collaborations and kind cooperations with us. We continue and extend our research activities in the new centers and the core.
Main activities of the center since the foundation on 1st Sept 2014 were summarized by the chair of the center and the coordinators of the two research cores and the two laboratories. After the summaries, free discussions were made by the participants on the achievements as well as future prospects of the center.
See Japanese webpage of us for the presentation files (in Japanese) on the major activities of the center since its foundation.
